  1. Press (Windows key + R) that would bring on Run prompt.
  2. Type in Services.msc and click OK.
  3. Select the service named Windows Search.
  4. Right click on it and select
    properties.
  5. Choose Disabled as the startup type.
  6. Now stop the service
    just clicking the Stop button.

Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Indexing

Remove all the locations from there.

One more way is to disable indexing for a certain drive or vice-versa.
Go to My Computer, right click on the drive that you want to
enable/disable indexing on.

Uncheck the box corresponding to Index this drive for faster searching.
